Which Land Rover models are no longer being made?
Before we find out whether you can still purchase parts for discontinued models, we explore some of the various models that are no longer being manufactured by Land Rover. From the classic Land Rover Freelander to the quirky Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible, these Land Rover discontinued models are well worth exploring.
Land Rover Freelander
Due to a combination of financial concerns and poor sales, Land Rover decided to discontinue the Freelander in 2014 and replace it with the Discovery Sport.
Land Rover Freelander 2/LR2
The second generation of the Freelander, this model was known as the LR2 in Europe and was sold from 2007 to 2015. This five-door generation 2 model of the Freelander was replaced by the Discovery Sport in 2015.
Land Rover Discovery 3/LR3
Known as both the Land Rover Discovery and the Land Rover LR3, this model was discontinued in 2009. First produced in 2004, this model was manufactured for five years.
Land Rover Discovery 4/LR4
Discontinued in 2016, the Land Rover Discovery/LR4 was an updated version of the Land Rover Discovery 3 and was first produced in 2009.
Land Rover Defender
Despite being produced by Land Rover for an impressive 67 years, the Land Rover Defender was discontinued in 2016. This decision was made due to costly EU emission standard and rising irrelevance, but the release of a new and substantially different generation in 2020 means you can get your hands on both new and discontinued Defender models.
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible
Following slow sales, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible was discontinued in 2018. It was only in production for a year before Land Rover decided to no longer manufacture this model.
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Coupe
The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Coupe was cut from production following poor sales in 2018. This model was first produced in 2011.
Can you still buy parts for discontinued Land Rovers?
Put simply, yes, you can still buy parts for discontinued Land Rovers. This is because auto manufacturers can still make a lot of money producing aftermarket parts even years after a model has been discontinued. While, eventually, it may become harder and harder to source parts for a discontinued model (especially genuine, OEM parts), it typically only becomes difficult after decades of the model being taken off the market.
